Environment influences learning! In my 30 years as an educator, my number one goal has been to make the school experience positive, memorable, meaningful and AWESOME for my students.
I am in my 19th year as a campus principal, with 24 years in middle and high school leadership. I am proud to serve as Principal of Northwest High School, the Flagship campus in Northwest ISD, and I am a Past President of the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals (TASSP). In 2013 I was named a National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) Digital Principal of the Year. These roles have afforded me the opportunity to lead and influence middle and high school leaders across our State and Nation. I continue to serve as a TASSP Executive Officer today.
My purpose in education is to make school life positive, meaningful, and awesome for kids while equipping them with a future story and an understanding of the skills and tools they will need for life beyond the walk across the graduation stage. When students love to come to school, and they interact daily with adults who genuinely love and care for them, they are far more likely experience social and academic growth.
Transforming the learning environment has been my calling in each of my campus leadership roles. I opened the highly innovative and first 5-8 middle school in Keller ISD--Timberview Middle School--in 2010. At Northwest High School, we have been “building the plane as it flies” for the past three years, undergoing a massive expansion, rebranding, and renovation of a large high school while carrying out teaching and learning and all the exciting daily activities of a growing suburban high school.
