Concert review: Cincinnati Pops swings into big-band mode at Carnegie HallBy Janelle Gelfand The Cincinnati Enquirer NEW YORK —
The audience didn't have to be coaxed to clap along when Erich Kunzel and the Cincinnati Pops started their second encore Tuesday night in Carnegie Hall. By the time the whole cast joined the Pops and the Jazz Ambassadors of the United States Army Field Band for “When the Saints Go Marching In” — an all-out jam session of jazz instrumentalists, singers, lindy-hop dancers, and finally, two upward bursts of confetti over the orchestra — the crowd was on its feet. ....trumpeters John Brye and Jack Wengrosky competed to raise the roof in “Well, Git It.”
Has performed with Doc Severinsen, Joe Williams, Freddie Hubbard, Jon Faddis, Bobby Shew, Louie Bellson, Diane Schuur, Clark Terry, Lee Konitz, Phil Woods and many other musical greats. Proud student of Don Jacoby and many others along the way.
