Jacob Rowe

I am just about the biggest football nerd you’ll meet. I watch every play of every game and love every second of it. Football consumes my being during the entire year, regardless of whether games are being played or not.

My fandom sprouted and grew from a single activity: fantasy football. I have put countless hours of research and film study into drafting my teams, and it’s paid off. Over 5 years I have won hundreds of dollars (along with the title of “Supreme Boss-Man”) from multiple different leagues. But more than that, I’ve found my calling. After so much time spent looking at player statistics, I realized that I want to pursue a career in sports analytics. This drove me to attend UGA because they not only have one of the only true data science programs in the state, but also the best opportunity for me to grow my knowledge and love of the game.

I am currently in the process of trying to procure a part-time position with the football team. Since open spots on the analytics team are few and far between, I’ve put in an application to be a groundskeeper at Sanford Stadium just to get myself that much closer to the team and coaching staff.
