Jacob York is a serial entrepreneur who was born in Brooklyn, New York but now resides in Atlanta, Georgia where he founded Electric Republic. Electric Republic is a media company focused on talent management and marketing, film production, television production and media consulting. As the Chancellor of Electric Republic, Jacob leads the growing company with years of experience within the entertainment industry. From a young age, Jacob developed his talents for planning and management. First by pursuing his love of film by hosting cinema nights at a family-owned event hall in Brooklyn and then by making a name for himself across New York for hosting popular parties and events at his high school, Liberty High School and then at Columbia University in Manhattan.
In 1993, given his rising notoriety as part of New York City’s booming nightlife, Jacob York founded Jacob York Presents. Since then, he has worked closely with artist and celebrities like Jay-Z, Puff Daddy, Lil Wayne, and Kim Kardashian. Then in 1994, Jacob took bigger steps into the entertainment industry when he joined childhood friends Lance “Un” Rivera and rapper Biggie Smalls to form Undeas Entertainment through a multi-million dollar deal with Atlantic Records. Under the executive leadership, the music production company would eventually give rise to some of the most well known names in hip-hop. Their first major act, for example, was Junior M.A.F.I.A, under the tutelage and founding of Biggie Smalls. Undeas Entertainment eventually gave way to Untertainment Records following the untimely death of Biggie Smalls. Untertainment Records was founded by Lance Rivera and Jacob York through a joint deal with Epic Records, Sony and Warner/Chappell Music, Inc.
Although Jacob had found a successful career within the music industry, he also set his sights on other industries as well. In 1999, Jacob founded AKA.com, a search engine that served music fans who wanted to discover more about their favorite music. In just two years, Jacob grew AKA.com from just 4 employees to over 400. As the tech bubble burst occurred, however, Jacob and his founding partners sold AKA.com. His success within the entertainment and tech industries eventually led Jacob York to Atlanta, Georgia where his experience in music production and talent management were recognized by six of the biggest record companies that Jacob York would consult for.
