Student, Cinematographer, and Audio Engineer in Toronto
Hey there, I’m Jacob! I am a Ryerson University student in the RTA Media Production program and I specialize in both video and audio production. I have taken courses in music production, interactive and immersive audio production, audio post production and sound design, advanced video production, cinematography and lighting design, advanced television editing, multi-camera production, television technical producing, directing and performance, and more! I have work experience in film and television as a camera and lighting technician, as a technical producer for multi-camera broadcasts, as a manager of the various production facilities at Ryerson University, and I also work as a teaching assistant at Ryerson as well. I also have volunteer experience as the President of the Course Union for RTA Students (CURTAS) where I led a team of 20 passionate students to transition the organization’s programming and events to an entirely online format as necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic. I also am the current Vice-Chair of the RTA School Council in which I advocate for the academic experience, interests, and initiatives of the RTA student body. I aspire to one day become a media production educator and teacher at the post secondary level. I have always been drawn to teaching, and it would be a dream come true to have the opportunity to teach in the field of media production that I am so passionate about! In order to try and jump start my teaching career, I have applied for the RTA Master of Media Production program at Ryerson and I am currently awaiting a response to my application. I am always looking to hear from other passionate students and educators about all things media production education, and so if you have thoughts or opinions on these areas please reach out to me on social media!
