Jacob Park
Sustainability Futurist in Brooklyn, New York
I'm the Director of Sustainable Futures at BSR, a global nonprofit working to build a just and sustainable world. I use strategic foresight methodologies such as scenario planning to enable businesses, foundations, multi-stakeholder groups, and others to create more more sustainable and resilient strategies and to catalyze positive change.
The portfolio of futures projects I've worked on in my career is diverse--ranging from sustainable apparel in India to fisheries management in Belize to climate resilience in Bangkok to the future of the retail industry here in the US. Partners I've worked with include Levi's, the Rockefeller Foundation, Target, Unilever, and the Outdoor Industry Association, among many others. I strive to combine creative insight with analytical rigor, and to approach my projects with a sense of mindfulness and play.
I regularly speak on sustainability and futures topics at fora such as SXSW Eco and Net Impact, and guest lecture at academic institutions like the The New School in New York and Goldsmiths, University of London.
I'm particularly excited about biologically-inspired innovations that don't merely reduce harmful impacts but actively regenerate our human and natural systems.
Outside of work I love backpacking in the wilderness, exploring the forgotten edges of cities, hosting dinner parties that run late into the night, and making photographs.
