Jacqueline Partida

I am currently an undergraduate student at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), double majoring in Chicana/o and Feminist Studies. I am a participant in the Ronald E. McNair Scholars Program at UCSB. My current faculty mentor is Ralph Armbruster-Sandoval in the Chicana/o Studies Department. I research how sexism was reinforced in the Chicano Movement and the responses of Chicana’s. I was accepted to do summer research at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, for the summer of 2014. My faculty mentor is Alejandro Lugo in the Anthropology Department. I am conducting research regarding border violence and the Maquiladora workers in Ciudad Juarez. More specifically, I am researching how the community resisted, and worked to end violence through artistic intervention.
