Jacquelyn Marie Shannon
performance artist, Poet, and Teacher in Brooklyn, New York
Texas-born, Brooklyn-based performance and ritual artist, writer, and interdisciplinary bricoleur heavily influenced by Japanese Butoh dance, German expressionism, avant-garde theatre, americana, and the nostalgic mythos and mysticism of the south. Jacquelyn holds a graduate degree from Indiana University in Communication and Culture where she studied embodied poetics and affective performance and is currently pursuing a second graduate degree in Educational Theatre at NYU. She has produced and performed both solo and ensemble-based work across the US.
Her current projects explore spaces of exchange and impossibility between haunting and corporeality through ritual and multi-media performance with an emphasis on the precarious, poetic body.
