Jacqui Barrineau

Metro D.C. area

I'm an editor and writer with certificates in public relations and ecommerce. In another life, I was a systems analyst, juggling both desktop- and server-side operations.

As an editor on the USA TODAY Mobile+Social team, I manage Your Take, USA TODAY's user-generated project that features some of the nation's best amateur photographers. I also pitch in on the USA TODAY social platforms, delivering accurate, shareable, real-time news to our 3 million Facebook fans and our 1.6 million Twitter followers.

Outside of my work at USA TODAY, I am proud to serve on the Northern Virginia College Marketing Advisory Committee. As a committee member, I'm lending my knowledge and expertise to ensure the college's Marketing curriculum is relevant and responsive to the needs of the students and the surrounding business communities.

When I'm not editing for USA TODAY, I write an occasional short story or poem. My work has appeared in Calliope and the feminist journal So to Speak; I'm also a regular contributor to the flash-fiction sites Paragraph Planet and Doorknobs & Bodypaint. I've also interviewed editors for The Review Review, a comprehensive guide to literary journals and the people who produce them.

I can be found musing and mulling on Wordpress, Facebook and Twitter. The views expressed here and elsewhere are mine, not my employers'.

I live in the suburbs of Washington, D.C., with my husband, Trey, our sweet Sheltie, and two very silly cats.
