Student and Data Analysis in London, United Kingdom

Hi there!

I'm Jai ( "J " ) Retter, 22 years young, and a graduate of McGill University, now pursuing an MSc at the London School of Economics! My passions lie at the intersection of geopolitics, media, human rights, and technology.

For the last year, I've worked on the Public Sector Team at Dataminr, the leading real-time information discovery firm.

Before that, I spent a year as a junior editor atThe Huffington Post, increasing youth engagement and contribution.

I've also completed incredible internships exploring my passion for public service. Most recently, I interned at the White House Office of Science & Technology Policy where I worked on issues ranging from human trafficking to health care enrollment to ending sexual assault on college campuses. I also spent a year interning at the United States Department of State in International Information Programs + in the Office of Foreign Assistance Resources. Just prior to assuming these positions, I spent the summer of 2012 working for Congressman Jim Himes (CT-4) as an outreach intern.

Other projects: US Delegate to the United Nations for the Commission on the Status of Women, Knight Fellow to the Personal Democracy Forum, and contributor to The Huffington Post, USA Today, McGill International Review, Company Magazine (Hearst), Weston Forum, CollegeFashionista, Dormify, and Patch (AOL).

Will gladly talk travel (nearing 30 countries!), wild ideas, Middle East politics, skiing, and good reads.
