Ja'Melia Pugh
Teacher, Educational Consultant, and Director in Pleasanton, CA
I am a dynamic educator, equity leader, and budding non-profit founder. I grew up in the Bay Area in Oakland. This is my third year at Creative Arts Charter School (CACS). I have now officially stepped into the role of Director of African American Achievement Initiative. Prior to joining CACS, I was a Program Manager at an educational Non-profit and prior to that an Assistant Principal.
I earned a BS in Elementary Education from Florida A&M University and have obtained my MA in Educational Leadership with an emphasis on social justice from Mills College. This will begin my 13th year in education, the breadth of my educational experience spans both traditional and charter schools where I taught, coached, lead, and mentored students and educators.
Prior to moving back to the Bay Area a few years ago, I lived in Washington, D.C. for 8 years. Working in education throughout the country allowed me to demonstrate my commitment to creating greater equity for all children and aiming to empower those individuals who want to make a difference. I have a passion for empowering leaders, teachers, and students. I want to cultivate their minds in order to bring out their best abilities. It’s my belief that any child can learn and thrive despite any obstacle in their life. It’s our job to expose them to the possibilities within this world.
Not only am I an Educational Leader but, I am a budding writer and future business owner. I am dedicated to empowering my community and building generational wealth. Ultimately, I hope my impact will create long-lasting change that will allow children and families to live fruitful lives.
I'm a Blessed, Down-to-earth, fun-loving, music lover. I am a FAMU Alum. On a journey to accomplish my dreams and conquer the world.
