James Dondero

James Dondero is an accomplished businessman in the real estate and investment industries. Mr. Dondero is the founder and principal of NexPoint, a multibillion-dollar alternative investment platform specializing in real estate across various property types, headquartered in Dallas, Texas. Notably, James Dondero has also established several successful businesses for the purpose of managing investments in areas such as credit and private equity. At the core of his business endeavors, Mr. Dondero seeks to expand access to alternative investments in retail channels.

Apart from his duties at NexPoint, James Dondero holds executive leadership positions and serves as director for each of NexPoint's publicly traded REITs: NexPoint Residential Trust, Inc. (NYSE:NXRT), NexPoint Real Estate Finance, Inc. (NYSE:NREF), and NexPoint Hospitality Trust (TSXV:NHT.U).

Prior to establishing NexPoint, Mr. Dondero’s professional portfolio included being co-founder and president of other global businesses. He previously held the title of Chief Investment Officer at Protective Life and served as a Corporate Bond Analyst/Portfolio Manager at American Express, along with other significant roles. Presently, James Dondero functions as Manager of the Board at SeaOne Holdings, LLC, Director of the Board at NexBank SSB, and Chairman at NexBank Capital, Inc. He actively contributes as an Executive Board Member on the Southern Methodist University Cox School of Business Executive Board and as a member of the George W. Bush Presidential Center Executive Advisory Council.

Alongside his professional achievements, James Dondero is actively committed to giving back to the Dallas, Texas, community. He is a powerful advocate for organizations engaged in economic development, veterans' affairs, conservation, and education, leaving a legacy of positive impact on the local area. Upon graduating from the University of Virginia McIntire School of Commerce in 1984 with a degree in accounting and finance, Mr. Dondero later acquired certifications as a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Managerial Accountant, and Chartered Financial Analyst.
