The composition of most car batteries are somewhat same. A combination of sulphuric acid, lead oxide plates and six lead cells are what the battery is comprised of. Over a period of time, there is a gradual formation of crystals of lead sulphate in the battery that leads to a slowdown in its effectiveness. The symptoms are that the battery will require a greater duration to get charged. Eventually it might fail to even start up the engine of the car.
