I love working! It's not something you hear many people say these days, but I believe that our true happiness can be realized through work.
I was on a boat in the Mediteranian sea traveling from Cypress to the island of Rhodes when a guy who I had struck up a conversation with said, "all Americans feel guilty for sitting around and not doing something. It's like they have something inside them that causes anxiety if they aren't working." he asked me if I felt that way and I agreed I did. He thought it was absolutely ludicris to live that way, so he sold everything he had, left the USA and decided to spend the little earnings he'd saved traveling the world until the money ran out.
That was about 13 years ago. I would love to meet that guy again and see how his plan of not working and spending all his money turned out for him. While he might have been a little crazy, he made me realize something -- We were made to work!
I love the feeling of being completely exhausted from working all day. Whether I'm traveling a lot, presenting and selling my product, or laying tile on a bathroom floor, I crave the satisfaction from work. I especially love that feeling from a job well done.
I grew up on a farm in Kansas, so work was just part of our lives. I later moved to Idaho with my parents when my dad took a job with my grandfather’s company. I still consider Idaho my home. It’s where I spent most of my formative years and, yes…it’s beautiful there! I grew up snowboarding, hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles and most anything outdoors.
I now live in the Dallas, Fort Worth area with my wonderful wife and two children. My hobbies are mountain bike racing, working out and talking about business ideas.
I think one of the greatest keys to life can be realized through understanding one simple word...perspective!
