I am passionate about online communities and collaboration. I have 20 years experience in the internet field, working for start ups to Fortune 500 companies (starting an ISP, building and managing online communities, developing social media strategies and sites, content management, implementation of radio/newspaper website, and project management).
Why am I passionate?
Social Media empowers us to engage and connect with people from across the world and in our neighborhoods. It keeps us connected to family and opens our eyes to the oppressed and injustice, inspiring us to demand change. It provides businesses a way to engage customers building relationships and improving products or services.
About my work
I received numerous recognition including the CEO award for successfully implementing an employee social media training program and building an award winning online community, where both executives and employees connect. I 'm also honored to work with a wonderful team to help bring a culture of innovation to BCBSNC by supporting an online innovation tool, building a physical innovation lab, and helping with events like the innovation speaker series.
I am a member of SocialMedia.or, The Community Roundtable, The Social Business Council, and was on the advisory board for the 2013 State of Community Management Report.
Life outside of work
In my personal life I enjoy kayaking, photography, and spending time with my family. I volunteer for local charities addressing issues for the homeless and poor.
