James McNamara

James McNamara is an Australian writer who has worked with See-Saw Films, Porchlight Films, Endemol Australia, Matchbox Pictures and as a script analyst for Icon Films. James has a number of television projects in development. In addition to his creative work, James is an award-winning literary and television critic, whose work has been published in the New York Times, LA Review of Books, Australian Book Review, Times Literary Supplement, The Spectator, and The Australian. James won the ABR Ian Potter Foundation Fellowship – one of Australia’s major awards for cultural criticism – for his work on the HBO era of US television drama. James’s critical abilities were honed at Oxford, where he held a Clarendon Scholarship and received his PhD in English. James also holds degrees in English and Law from the University of Western Australia and in screenwriting from AFTRS. James was previously a corporate litigation lawyer specializing in international disputes for a top-tier US law firm.
