Originally from Memphis, TN, James Kail Powers is currently studying at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. James Powers is an active student balancing his school work, campus organizations and his volunteer work with the Knoxville Community. He has been accepted into Phi Sigma Theta National Honor Society and is currently on the Dean's list.

When Powers is not writing papers or studying, he enjoys spending time with friends and exploring all the wonderful things Knoxville and the university offers. He also enjoys spending his time giving back to the Knoxville community. The one thing that Powers feels has been the most rewarding has been coaching a Little League Team, where he got to see the children develop their skills and see their hard work at practice transfer to results during the game. It was a rewarding experience and he is excited for the spring so he can do it again!
