James Feldkamp, a native of Roseburg, Oregon, embarked on an illustrious career after graduating with a BS in Business from Oregon State University. His professional journey began in the U.S. Navy, where he served as a naval flight officer. His expertise was primarily in roles such as Countermeasures Officer and Navigator aboard the EA-6B, conducting operations from the USS Midway during critical military engagements like Desert Shield and Desert Storm in 1991.
After transitioning from the military, Feldkamp entered federal law enforcement as a Special Agent with the FBI in Norfolk, Virginia. He was a key figure in founding the Tidewater Joint Terrorism Task Force and took on significant responsibilities in aerial surveillance. His commitment to public service continued as he ventured into politics, running as the Republican candidate for Oregon’s 4th Congressional District in the 2004 and 2006 elections.
In 2007, James was recalled to active duty to aid in the establishment of what would become the National Maritime Intelligence-Integration Office (NMIO). Concurrently, he nurtured an academic career, holding adjunct professor positions at George Washington University, George Mason University, and Georgetown University, where he taught courses on terrorism and security. He also contributed to academic literature, authoring and editing the textbook "Theory and Politics of Terrorism."
Feldkamp’s professional activities include serving as the Lead Consultant at Complete Threat Preparedness, Inc., advising on security protocols against diverse threats since 2017. He also maintains a role as a freelance editor at Reedsy, focusing his expertise on terrorism and intelligence content. His adventurous streak is well-documented through his participation in the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, spanning several years.
