James Levison

After a career as an actor, producing in the theatre, James worked at Daybreak Pictures, alongside David Aukin & Hal Vogel, as an Associate Producer. Whilst there James helped develop and produce award winning high profile political dramas on television and film such as ‘Britz’, ‘The Promise’ and ‘Endgame’, which premiered at Sundance and starred William Hurt and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

Through his own company, Wingbeat Pictures, James has produced short films ‘Knock Off’ and ‘Meconium’ (Phoebe Waller-Bridge & Jefferson Hall) by Rosanne Flynn; ‘Pieces’ (Tanya Franks, Paul Kaye, Alice Lowe, George McKay, Michael Smiley) by Jack Weatherley and recently ‘Hollow Road’ (Jacob Edwards, Alice Lowe, Oliver Milburn) by Drew Pautz with backing from Film London and Working Title. The films have gone on to win and show at Oscar and BAFTA eligible international film festivals including London, Leeds, London Short Film, Seattle, Athens, Hamptons, Harlem and Underwire amongst others.

James produced, alongside Kate Cook, the feature film ‘Leave to Remain’ by Bruce Goodison, starring Toby Jones and music by Alt-J. The film premiered at the 2013 BFI London Film Festival before going onto win festival awards around the world. In the UK the film won the 2014 One World Media Award for most Popular Feature. Following its theatrical release, it will premiere on UK TV on BBC3, May 31st 2015 at 21:00.
