James M. Russell, Jr.

Writer, Editor, and Researcher in Fort Worth, Texas

I’m a freelance communicator, editor, journalist, data researcher. As a journalist, I cover a breadth of areas, primarily at the intersections of cities, the built environment, visual art, design, architecture, politics and (almost) all things Texas, where I live. I and edit the morning newsclips e-blast and write for Quorum Report, Texas’ largest political newsletter.

I am a frequent contributor to Arts and Culture Texas, D Magazine, Next City, KERA.org and other outlets. My work has appeared in CityLab, INTO (which has since closed), Generation Progress (formerly Campus Progress), Star Trek, Counterpunch.org, Jewish News Syndicate, Houston Chronicle and the Huffington Post. I was also the web editor for the Gay and Lesbian Review Worldwide.

I was previously a staff writer and calendar editor for the Dallas Voice, assistant editor/reporter for Truthout.org and the book reviews section editor for New Clear Vision. The latter was a digital outlet affiliated with the academic Peace and Justice Studies Association.
