James Stroud
Chief Executive Officer at Stroud Homes in Brisbane
James Stroud is a carpenter by trade, with over 30 years of experience in the building industry. James studied construction engineering in Canada before coming to Australia in 1997 to start a new adventure.
After riding a motorbike across the Nullarbor and working on farms sowing and harvesting wheat, he settled in Sydney where he married his wife Julieanne, who was studying architectural drafting.
Starting out as a carpenter for an architect in Hurstville, James quickly moved up the ranks and managed a team of five chippies. He then built a clinic for a developer in Queensland, which led to several families asking James to quote on their new home build. Shortly after, James started as a franchisee with G.J. Gardner Homes. After 5-years of devotion, James established himself as franchisee of the year . Roughly, one in every four people in the Beaudesert area chose to build their home with James.
During his time at G.J. Gardner Homes, James noticed many issues where customers had bad relationships with their builder. James didn't like seeing people unhappy and didn't accept the constant conflict. James knew he could create a better way. In 2011, he established Stroud Homes with a vision of creating a better building experience for families.
With three children under the age of six, James put everything on the line to make his vision a reality. In the evenings, he and Julieanne would put the kids to bed and lay out the house plans on the kitchen table. Together, they designed two homes: a town plan, and an acreage plan - the Wildflower and the Kentucky. 300 home designs later, the Wildflower and the Kentucky are still the most popular Stroud Homes designs. The designs had everything James and Julieanne wanted and needed in a home.
James Stroud's commitment to innovation and a better building experience for families is evident in the success of Stroud Homes. His attention to detail, reliable build times, and transparent process have earned Stroud Homes a strong reputation for building affordable luxury homes. With over 3,000 homes built for families across Australia and New Zealand, James Stroud's dedication to creating better homes and lives for families continues to make a positive impact in the building industry.
