James Allen Smith
James spent his 1st 7 years in Germany as a military brat before his dad retired to central Massachusetts where he later attended the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. In his early 20s, he moved to Springfield, Missouri where he recorded and preformed with his band Glitterboy and managed The Juke Joint, a live performance venue. There he booked many popular acts of the mid-90's including Sugar Ray, No Doubt, The Wall Flowers, Jewel, and Cheep Trick.
In 1999 James moved to Chicago where he began working as a web designer for various finance and trading companies. Soon after, he began work on a family documentary, My Name Is Smith. After trading himself for some time he began work on FLOORED, a documentary about floor traders and their struggle to remain relevant as computers took over. Floored was shown world-wide at various festivals, theatrical & special event screenings in 2009 & 2010, including Germany as Endstation Parkett.
James currently lives in Seattle Washington with his wife Jennifer. Active in the local film community, James works on various personal and commercial film projects including the A&E seriesHOARDERS where he is a story editor / writer.
