James Barnes
James Barnes is co-founder of StatusCake.com one of the leading website uptime monitoring solutions. Since launch StatusCake has grown to serve tens of thousands of clients from bloggers through to SMEs, charities, blue-chips, and governments throughout the world.
The company is also behind TrafficCake, advanced software for detecting fraudulent traffic in media buying campaigns; and BrandGateKeeper, software for monitoring and detecting the use of a brand on websites not authorised by the brand owner and whose clients include FTSE listed gaming companies.
Barnes is also the founder of Affordable Media, a consultancy focusing on the leisure sector, working with online gaming operators and affiliates, the horse racing industry as well as technology start-ups to assist with business development, business affairs, and marketing. Affordable Media also consults on recruitment process outsourcing (RPO) at large blue-chip financial institutions.
Prior to this Barnes was the co-founder of StrangeLogic securing venture capital funding in June 2011 for behavioural marketing technology.
Also a solicitor, Barnes was legal counsel at bwin.party digital entertainment plc, best known for its PartyPoker online poker room and its sports betting brand Bwin. He also worked for sports marketing and sponsorship agency ISL/ISMM, working on the FIFA World Cup and other major sporting events, as well as at the BBC’s Commercial Agency securing co-production funding for entertainment programming, working with major record labels to deliver stars such as Elton John, Rod Stewart, and Robbie Williams.
