James started his professional life as an Officer in the Royal Navy Submarine Service having graduated from BRNC Dartmouth. He moved into Executive Search in 1998 with a boutique Financial Services, city based, search firm progressing through various roles, ultimately building and leading the Professional Services search business.
James then took up the role as Partner of a well-established Professional Services Boutique, before moving onto a Global Search firm, rebuilding their Professional Services practice. Following this he was invited to join a fast growing £70m turnover business to establish their Executive Search Practice, and following the successful sale of the group to a private equity firm, James joined a former colleague in a boutique firm which he helped double in size.
Joining NBI in 2013, James works closely with the senior leadership team of clients to identify talent issues, and draws on nbi’s specialists in Research, Executive Search, Change Performance Development and Assessment to develop and deliver against client’s strategic talent agendas. Within M&A and reorganisation agendas he also provides market knowledge, expertise and target identification and mapping. James works on a global basis delivering mandates in over 30 different countries and regions.
Outside of work James has a passion for travel and exploration, great food and social issues and has two teenage daughters. Just to keep busy he volunteers with organisations such as the Red Cross, and South East Coast Ambulance Service as part of the Community First Responder programme, and he is also a Governor member of the RNLI.
