James Holden
I am an upcoming artist in acrylics, clay and sculpture. In my work I try to use found everyday materials, my subject matter is the experience of contemporary life. I take commonplace situations and identify issues to do with social and economic effects, particularly the iniquity of the present inequality in our society. Using playful and amusing, but in your face images and construction, I communicate these in my ideas. Stereotypical images are common as seen in the tabloid press; I use these common concepts and deconstruct the hidden agendas within them. I would like my work to be thought provoking and confrontational, putting the viewer on the spot asking where they stand on these issues.
