James joined the Boot at Lapworth in 1994 as General Manager having developed a successful career in entrepreneurial pubs around Warwickshire. He became a partner in 1997 with Paul Salisbury and between them they laid the foundations for the Lovely Pubs Group we know today. James is known to be fair and focused on developing people to achieve their maximum potential. Many of his Managers and chefs are home grown and have been with the company for many years.

In 2003 he bacame a Director of Lovely Pubs along side Paul Salisbury, Paul Hales and Andrew Breen in preparation for the acquisition of Mortons Restaurant Bar followed by the Farm in Solihull.

James is behind the most recent acqusition in Bromsgrove and with the input of fellow Partner Andrew Breen and the Pauls will re-develop this site into The second "Farm Restaurant & Bar".

When James recruits he looks for "Lovely People" defined as people with initiative, who take responsibility, and understand what great hospitality is and how to deliver it to their customers.
