James Galowski
James Galowski, a Partner at Stone Tower Capital LLC in New York City, holds an MBA in Finance from Fordham University. Galowski has worked in the financial sector for over 25 years. James Galowski joined the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) in 1985 and remained with the bank for five years.
In 1990, James Galowski left his position as Senior Trader to join WestLB AG, an international commercial bank headquartered in Germany. As Managing Director for the firm, he managed assets and liabilities. In 1997, WestLB seconded him to Thomas Cook Group plc, a travel and tourism company based in the United Kingdom. He served as Group Treasurer for eight months and restructured the company's fixed asset income management portfolio.
After completing his work for Thomas Cook, James Galowski returned to WestLB and relocated to Singapore. He reorganized the rates business and oversaw trading rooms in Japan, China, Singapore, and Australia. In 2002, Galowski founded Brightwater Capital Management in New York. The firm oversees the structured asset management side of WestLB’s investments.
In 2005, James Galowski left Brightwater but remained with WestLB when he took the position of President of WestAM US LLC, WestLB’s asset management arm. In his new role, he served on the company’s global board and integrated $32 billion in fixed income assets. In all, he spent over 15 years working for WestLB in a wide variety of capacities. In 2006, he joined Stone Tower Capital, a privately held investment firm. He oversees the company’s $32 billion structured credit business.
