James Witman

Detroit, MI

James Witman fell in love with architecture at age 12 when his dad took him on a tour of the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Affleck House in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. While working on his Bachelor of Science in Architecture at Lawrence Technological University, James found a new interest in larger-scale urban design. For his Master’s Degree, he focused on urban scale, studying and analyzing cities across North America and Europe. James collaborated with community groups in the City of Detroit while working on his thesis project to produce Master Plans, Site Plans, and Design Guidelines to promote a walkable and vibrant urban environment. Since joining coG-studio, James’s experience has ranged from Conceptual Design to Construction Documents for both architectural and urban design projects.
