Architect James Hanis possesses leadership experience in engineering, urban design, and planning in public and private sectors. Since early 2017, James Hanis has worked as design manager for Walt Disney Imagineering in Orlando, Florida. In addition to this job, he serves as an architect and urbanist for his own firm in Orlando.

A licensed Florida registered architect, Mr. Hanis spent a decade as a city architect for the Public Works Department for the City of Daytona Beach. While there, he managed projects and served as an advisor and mediator, ensuring compliance of building design and appearance standards. He also guided city officials and members of the Development Review Committee on all development project approvals.

Previously, he spent time as a senior project manager for Orange County Capital Projects Division, also in Orlando. During his three years there, he supervised parks and recreation and worked on several high-profile projects.

James Hanis majored in architecture with a minor in urban planning and landscape architecture from the University of Florida. He stayed at the university to earn his master’s degree in architecture.
