Jamie Laviano
Father, Small Business Owner, and Designer in Waltham, MA
I was born in NYC to parents who grew up in Greenwich Village. We moved to New England when I was a child. I grew up in academia. I was surrounded by interesting people, design and art. It taught me to appreciate so many aspects of life, design, food, politics, craft and creation.
I was fortunate enough to be able to take a great number of art and design classes in college, in addition to business and communication classes. I took design classes at RISD for two years, as I've always been attracted to design and construction, art and craft.
While I get inspiration from so many places, I look to a combination of nature and history. In what little spare time I have, I like to take antique tools that have lost a part, and upcycle them into unique lighting fixtures.
I have worked for some of the best of the best - Lumetta, Brigham & Women's Hospital, IBM and Fidelity Capital Markets.
The most important thing we were taught in high school was a way to live: "Be responsible for your actions." I try to live that way, every day.
I enjoy nothing more than a house full of happy hungry people. Food is love and Laughter feeds your soul.
Smile.
