James Meese
James Meese is a currently a PhD candidate and is affiliated with the Centre of Excellence in Creative Industries and Innovation (CCI) at the Institute for Social Research, Swinburne University of Technology.
His research is situated in the field of critical copyright studies, and his thesis is specifically interested in how the various subjects of copyright law come into being. James has been recently been looking at the histories of the author, creative, user and pirate, and he hopes to make a contribution to the existing research which is already critically analysing the creation of selfhood in intellectual property law.
His research interests include intellectual property law, critical theory, consumption, the everyday, informal economies and piracy, the history of print and understandings of authorship and his writing has appeared in Computers and Composition and Media International Australia.
