James Melcon

Registered pharmacist Jim Melcon appreciates New York Yankees baseball as well as the baseball card collection he has maintained for years. He is equally dedicated to his career in pharmacy operations and management. Jim Melcon earned a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Long Island University in 1981. As a student, his efforts garnered him a comprehensive GPA of 3.68, and he graduated cum laude. He was also selected as a lifetime member of the Rho Chi Society, an association dedicated to scholarly achievement in pharmacy that awards students for academic excellence and pursuit of progress within the field. Jim Melcon’s most recent professional endeavor was with PharmScript, located in Mountainside, New Jersey. Working as a staff pharmacist, he carried out day-to-day responsibilities that included the review and verification of prescriptions, supply stock monitoring, and consultation with nurses and physicians as necessary. Before working for PharmScript, Jim Melcon was employed with a similar company, Geriscript Pharmacy. Both companies are providers of pharmaceuticals to residential care facilities. At both stores, Melcon acted as a staff pharmacist. During his nearly 26-year career as a registered pharmacist, Jim Melcon also worked for neighborhood pharmacies ShopRite Pharmacy and Harmon Drug. Over a 10-year period, he served as lead pharmacist for both companies and performed duties such as prescription order fulfillment, consultation with patients about their medication needs, and customer guidance about over-the-counter medications. He has also prepared intravenous (IV) medication admixtures for use. Jim Melcon received certification from the New Jersey Pharmacists Association as well as the Joint Board for Certification of Consultant Pharmacists.
