James Merritt

James Merritt presents a daily show on the national Kiss FM network, heard by more than two million listeners each week. His light-hearted style and natural connection with an audience have seen James take the daily mid-morning programme to record levels on both Kiss 101 and 105. He has twice been recognised by his industry; as Commercial Radio Newcomer of the Year and, in 2009, for Best Radio Show at the Urban Music Awards. The route to Kiss began in student radio where James managed his university radio station, winning a Radio 1 Student Award. From there he became a presenter and producer on VMR (Virgin Megastores Radio), before getting the call from Chris Evans’s team, and a three-year contract at Virgin Radio. James has met, and interviewed, a range of diverse celebrities. From world famous pop stars like Kylie Minogue, to politicians such as Conservative MP Francis Maude. He’s equally at home with serious and lighthearted radio – and has interviewed the Sugababes twice, each time with a completely different line-up! Away from radio, James’ voice is ubiquitous; on the Tate Modern’s multimedia tour, in Vue cinemas and on MTV adverts… just some of the many places you can hear him. He has a growing interest in music management; developing up-and-coming artists, working from the ground up to pitch the next wave of talent to a competitive modern record industry. James has represented Kiss as a music commentator for Sky News, introduced acts on stage at Wembley Arena, and regularly DJs out at some of the UK’s top clubs, where his knowledge of music across the genres makes for an addictive mix. Styles range from pop to rock, through dance, hip hop, electro and Kisstory.
