James Walsh

London, United Kingdom.

I'm an online journalist for the Guardian.

I work on the news desk in the communities team, figuring out how to involve our readers better in our journalism, and also trying to ensure we cover topics and angles our online readers want us to cover.

I also write about topics that interest me: I'm particularly geeky about politics, sci-fi, books, film, technology, and cycling. I also once wrote about Brad Pitt going to Wimpy, but I think that'll be my only foray into celebrity reporting.

Below are links some things I've put together for the Guardian recently.

• It's not about Russell Brand: why we marched against austerity
• Apathy and anger: Brazilians give their views on the 2014 World Cup
• Britain Furst: the halal Ray-ban-wearing far right Facebook mockers
• Wassailing in Walthamstow: the sweet charm of singing in the city
