James Pastman
Known as a concert pianist, composer, and musical director in the Chicago area, James Pastman has worked in the music industry since the late 1970s. The artists and bands he has collaborated with span a range of musical genre and styles and include Aretha Franklin, Del Shannon, Marshall Tucker Band, and Three Dog Night. He also worked with other groups in the entertainment industry, including the ground-breaking and internationally known performers of Cirque du Soleil.
James Pastman’s music can be heard on the 1982 jazz fusion album Rough Draft, by Apprentice, a band with which he played the keyboard. James Pastman’s music can also be heard by watching The Last Time I Committed Suicide, a Stephen Kay film starring Adrien Brody, Keanu Reeves, and Thomas Jane. James Pastman contributed to the movie’s film score. James Pastman is committed to his career as a musician, but he still finds time to run a small hedge fund company called Rhombus Capital Management, LP.
A graduate of the University of Chicago with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Public Policy Administration, James Pastman graduated summa cum laude. Before attending the University, he studied at the College of Lake County, where he received the Frederick D. Patterson Award for top achievement in the social sciences. He is a member of the University of Chicago Alumni and the Ravinia Festival Orchestra.
