James Pex

An accomplished forensic scientist and former Lieutenant with the Oregon State Police (OSP), James Pex holds membership with the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, the American Board of Criminalistics, the International Association for Identification, the Association of Firearm and Tool Mark Examiners, and the International Association of Bloodstain Pattern Analysts. Utilizing his skills to the utmost degree in his current career pursuits, Pex functions as the Chief Executive Officer of International Forensic Experts LLC (IFE), an organization he established in 2002. In his leadership role at IFE, James Pex manages a skilled team of forensic science contractors, providing consultation and analysis services for criminal and civil cases throughout the United States. Prior to his involvement with IFE and the company’s affiliated firm, Pex Forensic Consulting, Inc, James Pex laid the foundation for his future professional undertakings as an employee of the Center for Advanced Medical Technology at San Francisco State University (SFSU). Pex ended his tenure at SFSU in 1970 and relocated from California to Oregon to accept a position at Rogue Valley Memorial Hospital (now Rogue Valley Medical Center) in Medford. James Pex left the hospital in 1974, further supplementing his resume through his work at Providence Hospital (now Providence Medical Center) in Medford. After four years, Pex joined the Oregon State Police Crime Laboratory, acting as Criminalist at the Springfield-based facility. In 1989, James Pex was presented with the opportunity to take on duties as Director at the Oregon State Police Forensic Laboratory in Coos Bay. During the time he spent with the OSP, Pex supervised the laboratory’s staff and applied his knowledge toward casework in physical evidence, crime scenes, drugs, firearms, tool marks, and serology. Accredited by the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors, the OSP’s Forensic Laboratory processes a great deal of evidence that proves vital in resolving complex state and federal court cases. A longtime Oregon resident, James Pex names fishing, hiking, and boating as a few of his favorite leisure activities. Dedicated to helping others to the best of his ability, Pex proudly supports Rotary International.
