I've been a professional writer since the mid-1980s. I've sold well over 70 short stories, in addition to many comic book scripts, articles, essays, and novels.

My first published novel, THE FLOCK, from Tor-Forge Books was optioned for film through Warner Brothers. Since then I have sold a number of other novels.

When not writing, I have worked many day-jobs to pay the bills, including selling collectible comics and toys, rare books; working as a laborer on various warehouse docks, as a cutter for a manufacturer of swimming pool covers, and most recently as a letter carrier for the US Postal Service.

My passion is the outdoors. Whenever I have leisure time you will find me camping, kayaking, hiking, or backpacking in our nation's wilderness areas, state parks, and National Parks and Forests. The USA has some of the finest rural and wilderness lands in the world, and I take full advantage of this fact. Fortunately, I am married to a great woman (Carole) who enjoys the outdoors, also. Less often than I'd like--but more often than most--we are rolling down the highway with our Casita travel trailer headed for our next out-of-the-way destination.
