James Willard

I’m an aspiring songwriter who has been gigging in pubs and clubs since the age of 12; my music apprentiship. Not only has this been great for my career but has provided many opportunities to meet and make new friends. Gigging is my release, I get to do what I love and have a few drinks ..….. win win.

Music is my life, and has been since I can remember, even having a saxophone that I could blow bubbles with in the bath (obviously a while ago). I played lots of sports at school and wasn’t half bad (even if I say so myself), but I gave them up so that I didn’t damage my hands. You get the picture now.

After leaving school I studied at the Academy of Contemporary music where I gained a BA (hons) in performance. I also met my close good friends and band mates from Brother and Bones. This is my main focus these days.

Brother and Bones is a five piece powerhouse of blues rock combined with the subtleties of folk music. What I love about being in this band is that if we all had an about.me page it would read something similar to mine, all completely dedicated to music. When we are in a room together there’s just an immense feeling of passion and energy, which we all thrive off of on stage and when writing. It’s a great combination, I get to play lead guitar over well-crafted songs in a genre that I’ve always loved.

When I’m not playing with Brother and Bones I’m gigging as much as I can on my own. My set is a culmination of original songs, covers, and mash ups; anything and everything from Ray Charles to lady Ga Ga. Check me out on the links and please feel free to contact me if you would like a booking.
