“Singing is one thing, but making emotions be heard, felt, and seen by everyone but yourself is a whole other thing.” These words had been my foundation to the art of singing. I have been the quiet kid in school, the one who only speaks when called and shows up only when necessary. But when I heard music or when they made me sing, I feel more like myself. I have practiced and sang my way through my childhood and early education, and finally it paved my way to the UST Conservatory of Music where I am currently majoring in Vocal Performance. I am training under Prof. Naomi Sison in singing Classical pieces with a Lyric Soprano voice type.
I am a songwriter signed under SJ Records where I released my song “Without Water” and “Bumibitaw”. I was a former Soprano at Liturgikon Vocal Ensemble, UST SHS Chorale, PYCS Chorale, and I’m currently part of the Thomasian Chamber Choir where we represent the culture of Filipino music in countries such as Hongkong, Macau, US, and Canada. Through singing, I was able to support my education as I was granted the UST Domingo Scholarship. I was also the lead vocalist of a local band called “Heartbeats” where we perform gigs and do covers and share it in social media.
Performing at different places and meeting a lot of people has made me realize how I can share the knowledge I have gained. I have always believed that teaching is the highest form of learning. I was given the opportunity to teach Voice and Piano so now I am a teacher at Veneccio Institute of Music and Arts, and at Fima School of Music. Alongside my studies, I teach kids how to sing and help them develop their sense of musicality.
Music is my life, and therefore I must give life to it. I am no legend nor an expert on singing, but I’m determined to help anyone who I can walk this venture with.
