Jamie McCoy

Jamie McCoy is the creator, producer, and host of Living Louder with Jamie, an online talk show aiming to motivate youth to "amp up their volume" regarding the numerous controversial issues facing America’s modern young society. Living Louder will serve as a forum for youth to express their ideas, passions, and dreams. Afterall, they matter too!

Jamie is a biracial, first-generation college-bound teen. Born and raised in the South Bronx, she currently attends Democracy Prep Charter High School where she will be a part of its first graduating class. Voted "most outspoken student" in her school, Jamie has always aspired to become a talk show host, with her idols being Oprah Winfrey and Ellen Degeneres.

Growing up in the South Bronx, Jamie has become frustrated by her generation's tendency to brush off social issues, which she feels should be important to them. Combined with her dream to become a talk show host and her desire for her generation to be heard, Jamie hopes to remind the youth that they have a say in the world around them, motivating them to start collaborating with each other.

With a résumé including work in non-profit, government, advocacy, and volunteering, Jamie has grown both passionate and confident in her ability to help lead and encourage her generation with becoming more involved in today's society. Her wide range of experiences vary from testifying before Congress on alternative teacher certification, to volunteering at a local senior citizen center. Some of her additional societal engagements include lobbying in Albany in support of the DREAM Act, delivering a TED talk for TEDxHarlem, and fundraising for Pencils of Promise.

When Jamie's not in front of the camera you can find her playing volleyball and softball, participating in theater and her school's literary journal, or joining the yearbook and prom committees along with her school's very first Las Cultura Unidas Student Caucus. Jamie's diverse extracurricular interests have enabled her to connect with a variety of different groups that make up America’s contemporary youth culture today. Jamie has understanding of what it means to be a teen athlete, artist, writer, and advocator, She plans on using this understanding as a way to create a common language among America’s youth. Her mission is to unify her generation's under the motto, "More Voices, More Volume, More Valid!
