My Name is Jamie Golden and I am a first year student at THE Ohio State University from Birmingham, MI. In the EHE 1100 course I have learned many things through the various assignments given, however, three of these assignments stand out to me as being most important.

The first of these assignments was StrengthsQuest which taught me about my 5 greatest strengths as a person. My five were adaptability, competition, includer, arranger, and restorative. Of these strengths, the most important to me is my adaptability trait, which to me signifies the ability to get through all times, whether they are difficult or easy. I find this to be a crucial talent as times are not always so basic, and if you don't change the way you approach them, you can end up missing out or failing to get the most out of them. I feel that because of my ability to make these adaptations I am able to overcome and perform at a strong level in many different aspects from academics to social occasions.

Another assignment done in class that I felt was helpful in learning about myself was the BBC book reflections, in which we had to relate Will Allen's story to our own. To be completely honest, upon reading the book the first time I really failed to connect with what was being told as I held the feeling that my life was far different and more privileged than that of Will. However, when addressing the questions given to us about the book I was able to recognize the fact that we were really not that different at all, and we both shared many traits and experiences that helped to shape us similarly and teach us great lessons.

One final assignment I found to be extremely helpful was the schedule planning activity in which we planned out our next two years of classes at Ohio State. Prior to completing this assignment I was very worried about how I would self guide myself through my scheduling and was almost sure I would somehow figure out a way to mess it up. After spending multiple class hours planning and weighing options this worry completely went away and I became extremely confident that I would be taking the best possible courses for myself.

Overall I felt that the EHE 1100 course was very important for my success here at Ohio State and I am very glad I was required to take it. I look forward to my future here which the class has helped me so much with.
