Jamie Kurtz
Student in Georgia
Hi, I’m Jamie and I'm from Long Island, New York. Growing up, I always knew that I wanted to go to a big football school. My high school was quite large. My graduating class was about 600 students. Although we were big in numbers, we were not big in spirit. This strengthened my need to go to a school that had an immense amount of school pride. I believed that the University of Georgia was just the place for me to experience this.
One interesting fact about me is that I am the first person in my family to go to school outside of New York. Although the thought of being so far from home can be intimidating, I felt that this was a necessary chapter of my life. I had never visited a southern state before other than Florida. Coming to Georgia for the first time last year was an eye opening experience.
Upon arrival in this foreign state to visit the UGA campus, I immediately felt at home. Although parts of living in Georgia can feel like a bit of a culture shock, it also gives a great sense of adventure. I am very excited to see where this experience will take me and the great connections that will come from it.
