Interested in the way stories provide a new lens for enabling individuals to perceive the people and places surrounding them, William Kittredge, a short story writer from the 1900s, rightly declared, "Useful stories, I think, are radical in that they help us see freshly. They are like mirrors in which we see ourselves reflected. That's what stories are for, to help us see for ourselves as we go about the continual business of reimagining ourselves." Aside from leaping from the top of his bunk bed with a sheet tied around his neck pretending to be a superhero like most four year-olds, Jamie quickly fell in love with the toy camera his father gave him that year for Christmas. Now, at the age of twenty, Jamie Phillips, the principle shooter for Jamie Phillips Photography is still completely drawn to the fascinating art of photography. Like Kittredge, Jamie believes photos are an invaluable venue for reflecting life’s stories. Based out of Baton Rouge, Jamie strives to take a more innovative approach to his work as compared to what most have done in the photography industry. He interweaves creative elements with classic techniques, producing sharp images that capture moments in time. Jamie strongly believes every picture tells a story and by taking a photo, that story can be retold countless times. Shooting professionally since 2008, Jamie has a passion for capturing the memorable moments in your life. By working with all professional Canon SLR equipment, Jamie is able to produce high quality images. In 2008, Jamie began his photographic career when he volunteered to serve on a team as the designated photographer during a mission trip to Swaziland, Africa. In the years that followed, Jamie continued to sharpen his photographic skills by journeying to not only Mexico, but also overseas to Europe and Africa to capture images of orphanages, AIDS victims, international churches, and various cultures around the world to help make their stories known. In 2010, Jamie used his photographic skills at the Los Angeles Dream Center. Through each of these events, Jamie gained a deeper appreciation for the fascinating way photography can capture a moment in time. In addition to these incredible opportunities, Jamie also gained several years of experience shooting under other wedding photographers. Aside from shooting weddings, he also enjoys photo shoots with actors, musicians and bands, working with them on their ideas to create the shots that exemplify their creative f
