From an early age I can remember looking at old 3D slides of my Dad and Mom's trip to B.V.I. when they were twenty-somethings & thinking, "Wow. I've got to see these places with my own eyes." And even to this day I love to pick people's brains about the places they've been, the places they love and the places they've saved for that "someday" trip.
Ever since my first real road trip in 8th grade to Southern Colorado with my older brother and a good friend of ours, I've had a desire to see more of what God has created. I love being in the car, driving without an agenda, looking for beautiful things. The open road inspires me like nothing else. After a couple annual camping trips to South Fork, Colorado, my first epic road trip to the Grand Canyon, and an all night/day drive straight to the California Coast with my two best friends our Senior year, I was hooked.
Those "someday" trips we all talk about are what I call my Book-It List trips. An ever growing ACTUAL list of places I would love to see before my brief time is up on this wonderful, massive, beautiful planet. With the help of some good friends, an uncle who has literally been everywhere, a brother who shares my passion for seeing what's out there, and a wife who loves my crazy dreams and encourages me to keep on dreaming, I'm marking off this list one by one.
So this is my attempt to hopefully inspire some of you to do the same for yourself.
My advice to you? Look up pictures. Ask your friends or family. Call an uncle or neighbor. Email me. Whatever it takes to find a place you want to go. Then write it down. Make a list. Save some cash to do it.
Then book-it.
