Dr. Picart is a general surgery resident at the University of Michigan and currently a National Clinician Scholar at the Institute for Healthcare Policy and Innovation. Originally from Illinois, Jamila received her B.A. with honors in psychology from the University of Chicago in 2017. She then attended medical school at the Pritzker School of Medicine at the University of Chicago which she completed in 2021.

Dr. Picart’s research interests are in improving health by understanding barriers to healthcare service utilization, specifically in surgical patient populations. Dr. Picart is also interested in understanding barriers to recruitment and retention of all trainees and creating evidence-based interventions to advance recruitment and retention.

Dr. Picart is currently working toward a Master’s in Health and Healthcare Research through the Rackham Graduate School.
