I was born 11 Dec 1976 and grew up in Discovery Bay St. Ann on the North Coast of Jamaica. My early school days were spent at Discovery Bay All Age School. Between 1989-1994, I attended Ferncourt High School in Claremont. In 1995-96 I attended Browns Town Community College.
In 1996-2000 I worked at the University of the West Indies, centre for marine science, which was located at Discovery Bay marine laboratory. There, I worked as a Fisheries Technical officer responsible for implementing sustainable fishing practices in the six fishing villages on the North Coast of Jamaica, through a Mesh exchange programme and encouraging the fishermen to establish the Discovery Bay marine reserve.
I also worked as a community outreach officer, and participated in a Seamoss cultivation workshop in St. Lucia along with 12 fishermen from the local beaches of Jamaica. I was trained in proposal writing and was therefore able to help fishermen with their proposal writing in order to get funds from different NGO's. I assisted in the training of new staff/rangers, taught fish identification, assisted in fish tagging programmes, and organized international beach clean ups among other events.
My diving career started at the marine lab in Discovery Bay, where I was trained as a scuba diver and re-compression assistant for the hyberbaric chamber.
From 2000-2006, I worked with Resort Divers as a Certified PADI Master SCUBA instructor, teaching at various Hotels in Montego Bay.
In 2006 I got married and moved to Aarhus, Denmark, where I studied Danish. In 2007 I completed the industrial diver education, specializing in pipeline assembly, welding, inspection and rescue.
I started my own dive company, FLEXDYK, in the same year and worked part time as a commercial diver and Dive Instructor at the Kattegat Center, Grenaa, Denmark.
In 2010-12 I studied for an AP Degree in Service Economy, specializing in Tourism Management, at Dania Business Academy,Randers, Denmark. In 2010 another Jamaican and I founded JAMYARD, a reggae promotion company introducing Jamaica's unique culture through live reggae.
I love to spend time with my family, which includes my wife and three children. I like to travel, read, dance, spend time with friends, cook, meet new people and learn about different cultures. You can call me a water and nature enthusiast. I have a passion for community development and environmental conservation.
