After spending many years working in local government, I am semi-retired. I do consulting work along with my "fun" job at Crate and Barrel. I am on the faculty of the National Recreation and Park Association's Directors School and Director of their Green" School".

I have become an accidental "foodie" and enjoy blogging about real-life experiences in the kitchen, namely the things they never tell you in recipes or on TV shows. I am a self-proclaimed recipe critic that will tell you the truth about what does and doesn't work from my own personal experiences and hopefully help you avoid some of the disasters I've made in the kitchen.
