Jana-Mari Bloem
Student, Artist, and Teacher in Boksburg, South Africa
I am a student, part-time artist, and mentor/tutor currently living in Boksburg, South Africa. I have a passion for working with others to help them achieve their full potential and therefore I am on route to becoming an educational psychologist. My undergraduate studies started in 2014 at the University of Johannesburg. I intend to complete my Masters in educational Psychology there as well.
I became a part of the Golden Key International Society in 2015. All this will not be able if I did not value hard work and dedication. I believe in myself and I know that I will be able to make a difference in the lives of students. I strive to be a person who listens with empathy and is able to help some else feel better by helping them to realise what they're worth in life. I work hard but I also play hard too.
My interests range from entrepreneurship to food. I love baking and therefor have my own small business on the sideline that consists of baking cupcakes and cakes. I am luckily not a sweet tooth but can classify as an addict to coffee. DIY projects interest me and once a month I will attend to a DIY project. I wish there was a button that says weddings when determining my interest and I guess this somehow links to loving DIY projects.
I love making lists and this gives me great organisational skills. Being leader is also a passion and with the experience of being headgirl in primary school as well as in high school I can now successfully lead a group of people. Structuring projects, essays or discussions is my forté and I guess this is what helped me accomplish all the successes I had thus far.
I am currently a tutor for Boston college where I assist students who did not have the chance to complete their National Senior Certificate. These students are enrolled to complete their GED High School Diploma, which is recognised and equivalent to the South African Matric. The skills such as communication skills, organisational skills and problem solving skills learned here has had a great effect on my life. I am building up experience working with students and I am getting up to speed with technology while doing this because the GED is an online course. I am expanding my skills and knowledge.
I love what I am doing and I always complete any task given or set out for my. I am not a quitter and will always strive to improve myself.
