Janaeha Brockenbrough
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States
My name is Janaeha Brockenbrough. I am a rising senior at Academy at Palumbo Liberal Arts High School. I will be graduating in the summer of 2016. I am an aspiring Forensic Scientist, member of the Key Club, Head of the Spoken Word committee at church New Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church of South West Philadelphia and an after school tutor in Algebra I and II.
I am always looking for opportunities to aid others that are less fortunate in my community. Whether it be serving in food kitchens or helping clean and rebuild my church, I'm always looking for more opportunities.
In my spare time I enjoy reading, watching science related videos on YouTube, cooking/baking, writing novels, and socializing with my family.
On special occasions such as Christmas, Easter, and Mother's Day, I aid my sister with decorating, cooking, and baking a full course meal which can take several hours to several days. If there is anyone I can look up to it is my sister because she can manage working full time and cooking a meal for twenty people in under twenty four hours. She is a wonderful multi-tasker.
During the summer time, I enjoy traveling with my family to different places such as Puerto Rico, Mexico, Florida, and the Dominican Republic. In the summer of 2014, I traveled to Paris, France and Barcelona, Spain on a school trip sponsored my EF Tours. I had the opportunity to see staples such as the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower, the Catacombs, and Notre Dame in Paris and Sagrada Familia, the Barcelona Cathedral, and the Arc de Triomf in Barcelona. We also had the opportunity to eat some native foods while we were in the city. This experience has taught me the importance not believing the misconceptions we have about other countries and that having hands on experience with other cultures open your eyes to new ideas.
