Janai Valentine

Bonjour! My name is Janai Valentine and I am a 20 year old junior at Towson University majoring in Mass Communications and minoring in Electronic Media & Film. I love nature, fashion, and sports. I currently work at Michael Kors in downtown Baltimore. As only a junior in college I have journalism experience from two prior internships. My first internship was at Discover UMES, which is a student based TV and Production Organization. My second internship was at Voice of America in Washington D.C., working in the Creative Services department. My dream job is to be a sports reporter for Sports Center in San Diego.

I have a very deep passion for broadcast journalism that shines through my somewhat timid personality. I have always loved writing and everything about writing. All throughout high school I did an enormous amount of free writing, like poetry and creative writing. I really learned about my passion in journalism after I declared a major in English and minor in Telecommunications. After taking those telecommunication classes and news writing classes I knew I wanted to be a journalist. I am a very strong believer in doing what makes you happy and writing is what makes me happy.

My goal in life is to use my gift in writing to one day have a positive impact on someone’s life.
